ASICS x Believe in the Run x Featherstone Nutrition

Text messages

LA100 is a coached marathon training program run by Believe in the Run (Big Run Media, LLC) and Featherstone Nutrition, Ltd. Texts are one part of it, and they are opt in. This page shows exactly where you say yes, what you get, and how to stop. Nothing here is automatic: nobody is texted without ticking a box first.

What the texts are

  • The week's training plan, with a link to your calendar.
  • A nudge if the team has not seen a run from you in a few days.
  • A note when your coach replies to a message, or her reply itself, sent from her own number.
  • A hydration reminder the night before a long run and before the race.
  • For applicants who asked: a text when your decision is ready, and a reminder before your invitation window closes.

Training texts come about one to three a week, never during quiet hours in your own time zone. Message and data rates may apply. Program texts come from +1 (443) 665-0511 and begin “LA100 platform”; each coach also has her own number, which she gives you in her first text.

Texting your coach. Anything you text to a coach's number appears in your Messages on la100.run, in your thread with her, marked as sent by text. She answers there, and her answer reaches you by email and, if texts are on, as a text from the same number. Texting a coach does not turn texts on or off; Settings on the website is the only place for that. A photo you text her is kept with the message, and she can text one back.

Where you opt in

There are two places, and saying yes in one is not saying yes in the other.

1. The application form

At la100.run/apply, open one week a year (this year 5 to 11 October), the phone number field is optional and the box below it is unticked until you tick it. Nothing is sent unless you do.

The application form: an optional phone number field, then an unticked checkbox labeled Text me about my application, with the disclosure beneath it

The wording beside that box:

Text me about my application
A text when your decision is ready and a reminder before your invitation window closes. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

2. Settings, once you are on the team

Selected runners sign in at la100.run/sign-in, open Settings from their name at the top right (la100.run/account), and under Texts enter a mobile number and tick Yes, text me. The box is unticked until she ticks it, and she can untick it any time.

The Settings page's Texts card: a mobile number field, a time zone picker, an unticked checkbox labeled Yes, text me, a Save button, and the disclosure beneath them

The wording beneath that box:

By opting in you agree to receive training reminders and coach updates from LA100 by text. Message frequency varies, about one to three a week. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Either way we record that you said yes, where, and the moment you did. The website is the only place to opt in; texting our number does not sign anyone up.

The first text you get

Turning texts on in Settings sends this straight away:

LA100: you are signed up for training texts from Believe in the Run and Featherstone Nutrition, about one to three a week. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Applicants who ticked the box on the form hear from us only when there is news: the decision text itself, and a reminder before an invitation window closes.

How to stop, and how to get help

Reply STOP to any text and they stop. You get one confirmation that you are unsubscribed, and nothing more. If you change your mind later, reply START and your texts resume, since you already said yes on the website. Unticking the box in Settings also stops them. Reply HELP and you get:

LA100: training texts from Believe in the Run and Featherstone Nutrition, one to three a week. Reply STOP to opt out. Questions: alex@bigrunmedia.com

Stopping texts does not affect your application or your place in the program. Email still reaches you.

Your number

Your mobile number and your yes are used only for these texts. They are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, never sold, and not given to our partner ASICS. Twilio carries the messages and sees only what it needs to deliver them. The full detail is in the privacy policy and the terms of use.
